Chinese Navy launches hypersonic anti-ship missile in public display.

In its first public demonstration, China held the record for launching its "YJ-21" or "Eagle Strike 21" hypersonic anti-ship missile, which was designed to target aircraft carriers, which are China's naval forces.

Appears to be a Demonstrate of abilities.

Warning to the US Navy. Last weekend saw a Magnificent display of naval prowess ahead of the Chinese Navy's 73rd anniversary celebrations.

A video clip of the apparent launch was released, the YJ-21 being launched from the Type 055 vessel, a guided-missile destroyer that it is the largest, most important advanced destroyer in China's fleet.

The Type 055 has 112 vertical launch missile cells and is designed as a multi-role destroyer, equipped with a variety of lethal weapons to deal with the objectives of the Type .

Air defence, anti-missile defence, anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons are all included in the 055's capabilities.

Beijing-based naval analyst Li Jie told the South China Morning Post that the Type 055s with YJ-21 missiles are intended to deter foreign ships, primarily to prevent the US Navy from engaging in an attack on Taiwan.

"The matching Type-055 and YJ-21 missiles were designed for anti-access and area-denial to counter US maritime hegemony in the region," Lee said.

China is deeply concerned that Ukraine is receiving unlimited US military aid, and a recent US congressional group visit to Taiwan may lead Taipei to believe, in the event of a conflict between the US and Taiwan, providing equal assistance. Maybe," said Zhou.

Naval expert HI Sutton says that, the YJ-21 "externally resembles the CM-401 design, incorporating a larger booster stage.

The CM-401 is similar to the Iskander missile, although its diameter is only up to 600 mm."

The new missile may belong to the older CM-401 family, although the resemblance may be coincidental.

And it may also have a smaller diameter."

If these predictions are correct, the YJ-21 could make China's Type 055 one of the most powerful warships in the world.

The Type-346B AESA radar, similar to the AN/SPY-6 on the Flight III Arleigh Burke destroyer, is installed in orbit.

The YJ-21s are capable of launching heavy warheads with a range of up to 1,500 kilometers (930 mi), piercing directly through the flight deck of an aircraft carrier and rapidly dismantling it. The missile is usually launched into the air from a bomber.

Recently, in an unprecedented move, China has released a video of a Chinese warship firing a YJ-21 hypersonic anti-ship ballistic missile.

According to Sutton, the YJ-21 hypersonic anti-ship ballistic missile is linked to the CM-401 developed by China. With 112 Vertical Launching System (VLS) cells, the Type 055 can carry a sizable hypersonic arsenal.
