The Burgeoning North Korea Missile Threat..North Korea: What we know about its missile and nuclear programme. What do we know about North Korea's 'monster missile'?

North Korea's growing missile threat.

The world has focused its attention on the war between Russia and Ukraine, if we talk about it, on the other hand, North Korea is showing a rapid increase in its missile tests.

The Biden administration, as its first year, was quiet in rhetoric and proceedings, faced with a lot of difficulties amid the Covid 19, getting ready to see how it could be tackled.

North Korea is deliberately testing its missiles to counter the United States. In all, Pyeongyeong has tested 13 missiles.  has given them confidence in a missile test against North Korea that can also target US soil.

Pyongyang hopes that such missile test capability will deter the US from attacking North Korea. Will raise suspicion among US regional allies, America will endanger its cities Washington to defend against North Korea.

Most recently, on April 25, at a military parade marking the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, Kim Jong Un wore a white military marshal's identical and manifested his determination to enhancement the impetuosity of the country's nuclear forces.

had expressed. Kim said that "our nuclear warheads cannot be limited to a single mission of deterrence" and that the country's nuclear forces could be used in an "unforeseen second mission" if external forces violate North Korea's "fundamental interests".

Huh. Weapon displays included the Hwaseong-17 (first displayed in October 2020), hypersonic gliding missiles such as the Hwaseong-8 (tested last September), and what appeared to be a new type of solid fuel missile, possibly the Pukguksong-6 (now not tested yet).

Overall, the incident signaled to both internal and external audiences that Kim is pursuing his nuclear and missile programs in line with his January 2021 promises and has no project to ease his operations in the region.

What are the key capabilities to watch?

Multiple re-entry vehicles, which would allow North Korea to place multiple warheads on a single missile, allowing the U.S. And allied missile defense systems would be disappointed.

Small and light nuclear warheads, which can be used on a smaller missile or can be loaded in multiples on a single ICBM that can travel long distances.

submarine-launched ballistic missiles, which play a key role in diversifying North Korea's capabilities (potentially developing the second stage of the North Korean Triad), Even though North Korea is not yet close to achieving this capability.

Policy implications

The United States and South Korea have no easy choice but to thwart further progress in North Korea's missile program.  North Korea has shown no interest in talking with the United States in recent months, despite the Biden administration's offer to meet "unconditionally."

Accelerate US deployment of additional interceptors. The United States plans to build 64 interceptors from 44 interceptors soon.

While trying to defeat North Korea in this "numbers game" is not a winning strategy in the long run, in the short term it will help strengthen US national missile defenses while increasing the credibility of extended deterrence in the region.

Encourage Seoul to continue developing indigenous capabilities to counter missile threats from North Korea, including South Korea's version of the Iron Dome.

Such capabilities would help protect South Korea's critical infrastructure from North Korean missile barrages, without provoking the same level of objections from China that are involved in U.S.-positioned systems.
