Dhruv MK-3


Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Dhruv is a utility helicopter, we can also call it advanced light helicopter.

The name Dhruva is derived from Sanskrit its meaning unshakeable of firm.


 development was started in 1984 

 It was first taken into service by the Indian Coast Guard in 2002.


It was used by the Indian Army in 2007.


Navy commissioned it's first Dhruv mk1 squadron in 2013.


Overall, if we talk, there are four variants in the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited , the fourth is in the integral development stage.


Mk1 and mk2 do not have much difference.



The Mk1 is a turboshaft engine and its role is a utility helicopter only.


Mk2 is similar to mk1, What's new in this is just the glass cockpit.


Mk3 has been a big improvement in its engine, it has a roll utility as well as it is also being made for high attitude.



Mk4 Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Rudra itself is called mk4.

These engines are for Dhruv MK3 and mk4.

It has now used crystal type blade.

Crystal type blade are high quality blades.We can also call it the biggest improvement .



Dual channel FADEC( full authority digital engine control)


If one of your buttons goes bad then the other button will work.

This is its biggest improvement.

Indian Defense Force has 200 dhruv helicopters.

Dhruv helicopters are also used by Nepal Army Mauritius and Maldive.

Dhruv is used by Civil Customer, ONGC, Government of Jharkhand, Paramilitary Force ,Border Security Force.



It is a type of indigenous helicopter used by the Indian Navy ,Indian Air Force ,Indian Army, Indian Coast Guard, and is also used in civil operation.
