The US Air Force said on Monday that the Lockheed Martin manufacturer missile flew at 5 times the speed of sound on Saturday.
The number of US hypersonic weapons that have achieved successful test flight has gone up to 3.

AGM-183A Air Launched Rapid Response Weapon or ARRW has successfully conducted its uncrewed Saturday test over the Pacific Ocean after receiving failures in the first three test flights.
This is a great achievement by the ARRW team for the weapon industry and our Air Force.

The team's persistence, expertise and commitment have proven to be very important in overcoming the challenges of the past year to achieve recent successes, said the general Collins.

We are ready to build on what we learned and move Hypersonic forward.
Hypersonic weapons are very difficult to stop Russia has allegedly used hypersonic weapons during its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

The Air Force has issued a statement that the missile also separated from a B-52 bomber during Saturday's test off the southern California coast.

Its booster ignited which reached hypersonic speed 5 times that of sound.
Our highly skilled team created history on this first air launched hypersonic weapon Lt Col.

"We are doing everything we can to bring this game-changer weapon to the fighters as quickly as possible," Michael Jungquist, commander of the 491st Flight Test Squadron, said in a statement.

In recent months, top Pentagon officials have been pushing to accelerate the development of fast-moving weapons.
Former government and industry officials say the old US is slowing testing range and infrastructure development.

Last month, the Pentagon said it successfully tested hypersonic weapons from a different Lockheed manufacturer.

Another hypersonic weapon reported by Raytheon Technology took off successfully last year.

The speed and maneuverability of hypersonic weapons are very difficult to track and intercept.

Russia has fired hypersonic missiles at targets in Ukraine since its attack on February 24.

Including Kinzhal Dagger hypersonic missiles in Orissa city earlier this month. Russia has claimed that Kinzhal can travel 10 times faster than the speed of sound.

United States military officials have said Russia has fired hypersonic missiles at targets in Ukraine and China has tested hypersonic weapons.

Beijing denied in October that it had conducted a weapons test.
