Adding to Russia's military might, the Belgorod Navy has got the world's longest submarine, which is capable of diving up to a depth of 1700 feet in the sea.
On 8 July 2022, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Nikolay Tevmenov attended the submarine's delivery ceremony. He said that it will be used in research and science. However, earlier Russia had said that it would get the submarine by July 31, but now it has been found ahead of time. A defense expert said that the submarine is bigger than any submarine and has underwater drones. More than war, it will be used in covert missions, such as cutting the underwater Internet cable that can separate Western countries from the world.
Only a few countries' submarines can go at such a depth. Naval Commander-in-Chief Nikolay Yevmenov was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency at a ceremony on Friday that the submarine is extremely helpful in implementing various scientific research tasks of Russia and in rescue operations in remote areas of the oceans. The nuclear-powered Belgorod was ordered in April 2019 and was planned to be delivered to the Navy in 2020. Two more such submarines will be inducted into the Russian Army fleet by 2027. The speed of the Belgorod submarine is 80 miles per hour. It will work for Russia like an underwater intelligence agency.
