I am going on a war to send this ring to my house...Unmatched story of the spirit of Kargil hero Anuj
21 years of Kargil war have been completed. There were many heroes in this war. One of them was Captain Anuj Nayyar. Anuj, 25, was on his way home for an engagement with his childhood friend, when war broke out and he had to go to Kargil at the front. Captain Anuj Nayyar of the 17 Jat Regiment was given the responsibility of clearing the Pimple Complex, a part of Point 4875, west of Tiger Hill.
This post of Point 4875 was at an altitude of 6000 feet. It was extremely important to win it, so that the road ahead could be made easy. Captain Nayyar, accompanied by a crew, started the ascent on the night of 6 July. It was certain to face death step by step. But Captain Nayyar continued with his companions.
Captain Nayyar was thinking that by any means, this post had to be vacated, for which he was moving forward with his comrades. Meanwhile, the enemy got the sound of their knocking and started firing on Anuj's team. The Captain, along with his comrades, gave a befitting reply to the enemy and single-handedly killed nine Pakistani infiltrators.
Anuj and his accomplices pushed back the rest of the Pakistani infiltrators. Pimple 2 was almost conquered by 17 Jats. Captain Anuj Nayyar, who was injured, also destroyed the bunker with a machine gun. But as he was moving forward to hoist the tricolor of victory, a grenade of the enemy,
Meanwhile, the Pakistani infiltrators came back and tried to capture Point 4875, but Captain Batra had reached with the other team from behind. He did all the work of infiltrators. But before hoisting the tricolor, he too was martyred by a barrage of enemy bullets. However, the flag was hoisted at 4875 only on 7 July.
It is told that when Captain Anuj Nayyar was going on a war, he gave a ring to his senior and asked him to give this ring to his future fiance. The senior said that you give yourself, in response to which he said that I am going to the war or will I return or not. If I come back, I will give it myself or else you will give it to my house.
When the body of Captain Anuj Nayyar reached Delhi wrapped in the tricolour, a girl along with the family was crying bitterly. She was Simran, with whom Anuj was about to come to get engaged. Captain Anuj Nayyar was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra (India's second highest gallantry award) for his exemplary gallantry in battle.
