Hundreds of anti-government protesters barged into the Sri Lankan President's residence.

Sri Lanka's troubled President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled his official residence in the capital on Saturday, a defense source said.

Television footage showed the protesters running into the residence.

The protesters are demanding resignation.

And they stormed the campus and used the President's official residence.

The island of 22 million people is grappling with a severe foreign exchange crunch.

Which has limited the import of fuel, food and medicine.

Due to which it has plunged into the worst financial turmoil in 7 decades.

A total of 21 people, including two policemen, have been injured in the violent clashes during this period.

It is being told that in view of Saturday's rally, Rajapaksa was evicted from the residence on Friday itself.

Sri Lanka has run out of foreign exchange and is unable to import essential things.

Fuel has run out in the country, due to which vehicles have come to a standstill and many other services have also been affected.

The power crisis is also deepening due to insufficient production.

Due to this, anti-government protests have been going on here for the last few months and the situation has become very bad.
