US President Joe Biden, and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Prime Minister Albanese, made a statement. He said Shinzo Abe was a transformational leader. He also played a constructive role in founding the Quad partnership. and has worked tirelessly to advance a shared vision for a free and open IndoPacific. And India is celebrating a national day of mourning for Shinzo Abe.

The killer of Shinzo Abe, the architect of the quad and author of the free and open indo-pacific concept, has made sure of it. 

 Abe's legacy will live on forever.

What is Quad?


 QUAD stands for Quadilateral Security Dialog. The four member countries of the Quad are the US, Japan, India and Australia. 

 China has been an opponent of this group. After its meeting last year, China had said that the Quad was clearly an attempt to target China's growing influence in the region. 


 He called it a closed and exclusive group. However, US officials were quoted as saying that the Quad is an "informal gathering" with no country being targeted.

How was the quad installation done? 

For the first time in 2007 the idea was to build quads. 

 China and Russia strongly opposed this. Australia were out of the group in 2008. 

The idea stalled for 10 years.

 Thankfully, work started on this in November 2017.

 In November 2017, the US, Australia, India and Japan gave shape to the pending proposal to establish the Quad.  

Its aim is to develop a new strategy to keep major sea routes free of any influence amid China's growing military presence in the strategically important Indo-Pacific region.
